Here at the shop the Riders team is getting ready for Mini Drome Toronto happening this Saturday at the Brickworks starting at 2pm. Stop by our show booth at the event and you will find a much smaller version of our shop. We will be offering bicycle accessories, service and also sharing our favorite coffee with you. Hope to see you there because of course the shop at 80 Geary Ave. will be closed on Saturday.

Nuit Blanche Bike Rentals.

The Riders team have found though the years that the best way to see the most spots on Nuit Blanche is on bicycles. So if you or someone in your group does not have a bike for the night we recommend you book a bike rental here at riders as soon as possible. If you already have a bike for the night, you want to be seen and heard while riding so you will need front and rear lights and a bell all of which we can set you up with here at the shop. If those are all in check and you want to be extra safe, we also have a selection helmets and safety vest. But wait we have another reason for you to stop in, we are also offering free bike inspections for the night so stop by before you head out for the evening and we will help you to get riding smooth and safe.

P.S. We also have locks which you will also need if you want to leave your bike unattended.

Bright Lights for Night Flights.

Riding with a light on your bike at night is not only the law, but is also for every one's safety. Our favorite lights here at riders are the front and rear Torch lights. They are duel LED lights that use reflectors to make themselves ultra bright, they are also durable, water resistant, tough gripping, and have replaceable batteries. The lights will stay on or can be set to a strobe pattern to make sure you are seen when coming and going down dark or lit streets at night. Drop by and pick them up before tonight's outing and as always ride safe.

We also have all the parts and safety equipment you would need to roll right out of the shop. James' New Wheels.

James Recently came to us with a bike that had been in his family for a while. Well actually it was the frame that was remaining of it. He carried it in on his shoulder and discussed with us what he would like to see happen to the frame. After some brainstorming and number crushing with James, we came up with a solid plan. When James came back in a week he was ecstatic, and still is, about the bike and Riders:

"The bike is beautiful, the team at Riders were kind, clear, honest and fair and it was really fun to get creative! I look forward to building my cannondale frame with them!"

Thanks James, nothing makes the us happier then to see the smiles of our customers. Keep riding and smiling.

Folding Baskets!

As always within our wide selection of accessories we have in stock collapsible baskets which attach to the rear rack. Here we see them paired up and fronted by a removable wicker basket on this vintage 2-speed bike. Fashionable and functional, this bike looks good while full of laundry, groceries, or homework and packs up neatly when not carrying luggage or when locked up overnight.

The first way of course is to wear a helmet, and if you don't have a helmet make your way safely to Riders so we can suit you up with a brand new helmet that fits your head and your riding needs.

Nadine loves her mean green machine!
She had her bike custom built right down to the to the color:
"I woke up with an idea one day, while being surrounded by mainstream bike shops, I thought of that cool looking shop I had seen in the past. I found Riders a year ago but never took the time to stop in for a visit. This time I went in, met valentine and fell in love!!! Val sat me down and took the time to talk to me but more importantly listened to me and what i wanted in this dream bike of mine. I returned to the store at the time that he estimated it would be built by and when I walked in and saw him helping out a customer i decided to look around the store. There in the lineup of bikes i saw the bike of my dreams, it even had green brake wires. When Val finished with the other customer he told me that the bike was mine! I have never loved a bike more in my life... oh and they have a coffee bar too! Amazing. Thank you riders! " - Nadine

We currently have a wide selection of skateboards, longboards, and all the skate parts and protective gear to get you riding fast and safe. We are also curently featuring a cork top deck:

This Cork ply deck has a real cork sheet laminated to the top of the deck eliminating the need for grip tape. The cork is harvested from live trees in a sustainable manner and adhered with water based glues. The benefit of this collectors deck is that they are both fun to skate and easy on your shoes.

The Fifth Annual Art Auction in Support of Gallery 1313

Toronto, Ontario - Gallery 1313 presents Revelry V, its fifth annual art auction and fundraiser. Attention emerging collectors: This year’s art auction offers you the opportunity to bid on the work of almost 30 artists working in a variety of mediums (sculpture, painting and photography). This is the first year this fundraising auction has focused on attracting emerging collectors. All work is reasonably priced (valued at under $800) so that first time art buyers, who have never experienced a live art auction will come away with an amazing piece of work to start or add to their collection.

On the evening of Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 6:30 - 9 pm the Gallery will be hosting the auction preview event where we will thank our sponsors and allow prospective bidders to preview all the work and speak with the participating artists.

On Tuesday, April 27 at 7:30 pm, auctioneers Perry Tung, Canadian and European Art Specialist of Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers, and Andrea Zeifman will be auctioning off all the work along with other lots of donated items. All funds raised from the sale of all lots at this event go to support of the operations and programs of Gallery 1313.

The Auction Preview Party is by invitation only or by pre-registering as a bidder for the auction between March 9 and April 13, 2010. Tickets for the Revelry V art auction are $10, which gets the purchaser a idding paddle and full colour catalogue. Tickets are available at Gallery 1313 after March 9 or at the door on April 27.
